From the track to the triathlon |
What is the link in between the track and the triathlon world ? The
496. Using is huge experience on the track technology LOOK has,
developed the 496 triathlon. The 496 has been developed to match the
top high end athlete of the French federation who succeded in the
Olympic Games bringing back home a bunch of gold medals. Totally,
Look won 9 medals during the last Athens Olympic Games with many
federations: Franc, China, Japan, Germany, Canada etc.. This is the

HM and HR carbon mix |
The goal was to reduce the weight and the stiffness of the original
track frame to make it afordable for road using on short and long
distances triathlon. Using the mix of HR and HM carbon fiber as well
as the differences of tube thickness, LOOK managed to bring a
lighter frame to the user. |

Specific features and geometries to match the triathlon expectation |
What are the advantages of the 496 for a triathlete: an exeptional
aerodynamism as well as a incredible lateral stiffness. The use of a
specific calliper at the seat tube section correct the angle at 76° |

Monobloc construction with adjusted rear base |
At the bottom bracket section the specific stiffness result of a
very responsive framer. As any frame the most stressed section on a
frame is located at the bottom bracket section. In the 496
contruction the monobloc process added to the specific rear base
result of a maximum responsiveness. This specific rear base are
oversized and specificly shaped. The kind of construction result of
a perfect transmition in between the bottom bracket and the wheel. |

Integrated fork to increase the CX and the stability. |
This fork has a new design to increase the lateral stiffness and the
aerodynamism. The aérodynamism of the 496 has been mesured in the
Magny cours wind tunnel facilities and LOOK improved the CX of 2%
compared with the old 396. Specifickly for the triathlon and when
the rider is looking for aerodynamism the integrated fork brings
more stability. More stability = more safety and comfort. |
