Fox designed its new Downhill Fork, the
40, to be the lightest and strongest Downhill fork made. The oversized
40mm stanchions and huge lower legs give the 40 unparalleled stiffness
for incredible steering precision and low stiction performance. The
left stanchion contains the titanium coil/oil spring with external
spring preload adjustment. In the right stanchion you'll find Fox's
proprietary externally adjustable position-sensitive
damper. The Internal Travel
Spacer System provides adjustability from 8 to 6 inches in half-inch
increments, letting the rider adjust the travel to the terrain
requirements. The 40 has a stepped 20mm thru-axle allowing the lower
leg to settle into a lower friction point and FOX worked with disc
brake manufacturers to develop a new Downhill disc brake standard,
which creates a lighter and stiffer way to mount up a caliper for DH
rotor applications. From its low axle to crown height, to its
exceptional lock-to-lock turning radius, no detail was left untouched.
At under 6.8 pounds the 40 weights in as the new heavyweight world
champion. |
